Argentine Tango 101:
The Basics of Argentine Tango. Suitable for both absolute beginners and experienced dancers wishing to refine their fundamentals or explore the opposite lead/follow role.
Comfortable clothes and shoes that won't slip off your feet with a non-rubber sole (i.e. leather/suede) for ease of pivoting are recommended. Drop-ins welcome. No partner necessary!
Argentine Tango 201:
This class is perfect for those who have a good understanding of the fundamentals and are eager to continue refining their technique and expanding their tango vocabulary with more challenging and advanced steps/figures. Emphasis will continue to be on the connection, analysis and technique of the movements as tango is an improvisational dance, as well as navigation, terminology, and musicality. Goal is to avoid memorizing sequences and fluidly integrate the various techniques & musically on the social dance floor.
Typical topics include but not limited to: topics from Beginner I/II, close embrace & seamless transitions between open/close embrace, lapiz/rulo, enrosques, amagues, cadenas, calesitas, clavadas, boleo/gancho/barrida/sacada combinations, “shared axis” technique of volcadas/colgadas, lead/follow embellishments, and introduction to the different rhythms of milonga & vals.
